The school, founded in 1851, by the grace of God has become an institution ranked the highest academically when compared with schools in Israel . In 1996, the high school was moved to a campus on the northern hills of Nazareth , where it now accommodates 1,313 students and 125 staff members.

``The school aims to produce students who are good citizens with a high standard of knowledge, regardless of their religious background,'' Headmaster Hanna Abu El-Assal said. ``The school's teachers and staff constantly stress that students deal with the issues facing their country through peaceful means.''

The new school buildings rest on only one acre of land, while seven adjacent acres are available to be used by the school. With the high school completed and enlarged once already, the need for athletic fields is urgent.
